The book that I read was called T.H.U.G in other words the hate u give. The book was based on a girl named star she was the main character and she had two other brothers. The book was based on star and how she battled racism an police brutality. 

Star lived in the hood and went to school In suburbs along with her other siblings. She had two different life’s and friends. Star was had a friend named Khalil. She had saw Khalil at a party that her friends begged her to go to. The party ended up getting shot up. Khalil offered be a ride home. They pulled over and were listening to music and once they pulled off a police officer pulled them over. Star did what her dad taught her to do which was put her hands on top of the sun viser. The officer asked khalil to step out the car. Khalil stepped out and was not serious about the situation he reached in the car and the officer shot him. Star ran out the car to help him and the officer yelled “where’s the gun” and star yelled back “what gun”.
